We believe that children learn best through active learning, which is why we implement the HighScope approach. The HighScope approach supports children's learning through play. It helps children to develop their language, self-esteem and confidence.

What is the HighScope Approach?

HighScope is a broad educational approach that strives to help children develop in all areas. Framework A child initiated, adult facilitated curriculum that utilizes a plan-do-review sequence. Activities are based on the children's interests. During the plan, do review process, children learn to create and express their feelings. In a group or individually, children plan what they want to do. They then implement their choices and finally reflect, with help from an adult, to determine what was successful and what was not. The goals for young children are:
  • To learn through active involvement with people, materials, events, and ideas
  • To become independent, responsible, and confident, ready for school and ready for life
  • To learn to plan many of their own activities, carry them out, and talk with others about what they have done and what they have learnt.
  • To gain knowledge and skills in important educational, social, and physical areas
  • Research based and child focused, the Curriculum uses a carefully designed process of learning through discovery, called active participatory learning. It encourages children to discover the world around them by exploring and playing. Learning and development are anchored through lasting, trusting relationships with practitioners and carers, who are close at hand to support children as they play.
